Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate Review

Dia daoibh!
Today I'm back with a GEM of a skincare item, like nothing I've ever tried before; Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions™ Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate. Bit of a mouthful, but bear with me! Essentially, this is an anti-aging, overnight treatment  The micro-peel concentrate helps to refine the feel of rough texture and reveal newly radiant, refreshed skin, all overnight.

Lots of clinical trials and studies have been carried out on this at home peel so if you'd like the scientific facts head over to the Kiehl's website >HERE<. Over time, this product has been clinically-demonstrated to help accelerate surface skin cell turnover to reveal fresher, newly radiant skin, while visibly evening skin tone and refining the feel of rough texture .  You might be wondering (as I was) as to when exactly this slips into your skincare routine.  You should apply it after cleansing & toning and before your serum and moisturiser.
3-4 drops, from the included dropper, tend to cover my whole face.  I pat (rather than rub) the liquid all over my face, avoiding the eye area.  I did experience tingling on the first few uses.  As I am new to the micro-peel process and higher concentrations of facial friendly acids, my skin needed a little time to adjust to concentrate.  It does claim to be non sticky, but to be honest, if I use a drop too much, is does seem a little sticky to me.  Not a dealbreaker to me though, as the concentrate is to be used at night time anyway.

I make sure to use a rich, hydrating night moisturiser after I  apply the concentrate because the AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHA (beta hydroxy acids) can tend to dry out my skin just a little and leaves it slightly tight feeling in the morning.  The combination of AHA and BHA are, essentially, a chemical exfoliation, so instead of physically scrubbing the skin, the acids do the work for you instead.  You may think peels and acids sound scary, but Kiehls claim that this is gentle and can be used nightly.
Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate uses Quinoa husk extract combined with cactus extract , fruit acids, and phytic acid to formulate this gently, overnight peel.  Because this is a strong peel, your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage. It is extremely important to wear an SPF, so make sure that at least, your moisturiser has SPF in it.
Results from trials and studies show that Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is actually proven to work just as well or better than a 20% Glycolic Peel (the strongest Glycolic that can be used at-home) In case you're wondering what a glycolic peel is, it's a cosmetic procedure used by dermatologists to penetrate pores, dissolves oil and dead skin cells and accelerates the cell renewal process. The action of revealing new skin cells in this way helps to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for brighter, younger looking skin.
The surprising thing to me was that I noticed immediate results, something that rarely happens when it comes to skincare!  My skin appeared less porous, very smooth, radiant and my makeup applied noticeably smoother and more flawless.  This was all after just a few uses.  I've been using it now for about a month and, although my skin was relatively well behaved and normal to begin with, it's only now that my skin is so bright and clear looking, that I realise how uneven my skin was before using this.

As I mentioned, I'm on about week 4 and have come to the conclusion that my skin LOVES this stuff.  I used to have little bumps on my cheekbones (I'm told it might have been mild Milia) and these have been reduced dramatically and I'm putting it down to this beauty.  I'm thoroughly impressed.

Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is available exclusively at Arnotts Department Store and it will be available nationwide from 31st August 2016 for a RRP of€48.00
