Hey All.

For the past while I have found myself snapping random pics on my phone and camera. I guess the blogger in me is taking over my normal self, as I have no idea really why I felt the need to take pictures of random things! But I have decided to share - why not!! I want to keep my blog as personal as possible, I don't want it to seem serious and full of facts and reviews of products - although that is what I like to focus on, as I myself love reading reviews and learning about other peoples thoughts on different items. Here's my life in pics for the last while.

Active
Lots of playing and walking with Cathal (my son) and Bulmer (my pug)

Smells
My Yankee of choice for the past while has been one of my favs - Ocean Blossom. I have to say though, I wish it were a bit stronger. I love the scent but I'd prefer if it were a bit more noticeable as I love it so much! I myself have been smelling like Kim Kardashian! :)

Decoration
I've had this pic of Ms. Marilyn Monroe for ages but never put it up. It's now proudly displayed in my bedroom. I'm not a fan of posters though. I might try to make some sort of frame to make it look less "postery"!
I also added her to my laptop :)

 Organisation.
I badly needed some of this in my bedroom! I got these earring holders on ebay for less than €2 each with free shipping! Bargain. I got them HERE if you're interested.
This double sided yokey is from Penneys, not mad about it but it keeps everything together.

Exciting
I was in the paper! The Corkman to be specific. The same pic was also featured in a local magazine. It was when I was at a beauty and fashion event with my sister. (This is where I met Breffny Morgan from last years Apprentice)

Winning!
Here are some bits I bought and won from fellow Beauty Bloggers! The earrings are custom made by Tara. Have a look HERE at more of her uniques bits!
The second pic is quite funny really. The postman was bold with my prize I won from Viva Adonis!! But my god did it smell great!! I won a handcream from The Handmade Soap Company and a No7 Lash Adapt Mascara.

Reading
This baby also arrived through my letterbox last week. Beaut.ie have launched their second book - Gorgeous To Go. It is FABULOUS! A really nice read if you're interested in beauty and it's such a cute handy size!! Loving it! It will be available nationwide from the 14th October for the RRP of €12.99

Food
I love taking pictures of my food!!

Oh how I love Guacamole and salsa!!
I made this myself - pasta, chicken, cheesy.tomato sauce & some melted mozzarella
My favourite food IN THE WORLD!
Does this even need a caption!!?

Family
My sister graduated college recently so we went for a family meal at Vienna Woods Hotel in Cork.
This picture doesn't do it justice but our table in a special reserved area in the hotel restaurant was gorgeous - called The Snug - red velvet sofa, lots of big soft cushions, really comfy, private and....snug!

Technology.
And last.... but probably the most exciting, is my new phone. I traded in my old love (HTC Desire - which I loved and definitely recommend) for my new Samsung GALAXY S II. I'm still fiddling around with it, but boy do I love it already!!

And there we go. I might do some more of these if people are interested, let me know :) Speak soon. Oh!!! And don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY :)

Hello there you reading this post! :)

I’m feeling appreciative and generous today! Who fancies a giveaway?! I have surpassed 100 followers on my blog so that’s a good enough reason for me.  I started off  "blogging" after a long time of following and reading other peoples blogs and I decided it was time that I added my own two cents in the form of "FitznBitz". I really enjoy reviewing, expressing my opinions, sharing my thoughts and writing and I have made some wonderful genuine friends. It's not all as shallow as it seems!

To express my gratitude, here’s what I’m going to be giving away. This lot will be halved so there will be 2 winners! Choice preference will be give to the first winner and the other bits to the second.

or
A Bourjois Eye-shadow number 13 click HERE to see the unique colour which is what I would describe as a deep smokey purple with silver sparkles (which can be used wet or dry)

CHOICE 2

A mini Yankee Candle (votive). Cherry Blossom
or
Ocean Blossom (2 of my favs)

CHOICE 3

A Bourjois Blush-2011 Limited Edition (L'Opéra Garnier/Paris Design) Blush in the colour Rose d'Or/no34

CHOICE 4

An Essence XXXL Nudes Lipgloss in the colour 01 Nude Beauty (left)

These are part of a package I was sent from YTC. I received quite a bit and have enough to keep me going myself so I decided to add these into the package too. You will receive a mini Yes To Carrots Body Butter and a C Me Smile Lip Butter in the flavour Carrot
or
Melon

CHOICE 6

A GOSH Nail Varnish in the colour 548 Holographic (left)
or

I hope you like what I picked out. Both winners will be picked randomly.

Hello there.

Today I'm going to review Avon's new Super Shock Max Mascara. Here are Avon's claims

"Avon's 1st ever mascara for up to 15x volume. Unique helix brush maximises formula pick-up to give lashes INTENSE volume. WEIGHTLESS FORMULA plumping fibres expand around lashes fro MAXIMUM drama."

I have to say I actually do agree with most of this. I'm always wary of claims including numbers so let's just ignore that 15x volume part! But everything else; yep, seems about right. As you can see it has indeed a "unique helix brush"

It does volumise as you will see below, as well as lengthen. I also agree that the formula is weightless. I was quite surprised at this to be honest! Because the brush is so large (see pic below for size comparison to my eye!) I was expecting for the brush to be overloaded with product - but it wasn't. On the lashes it is not at all heavy which is great. Also I didn't find it to feel too hard or crunchy on the lashes.

Now lets get onto the results. Here we go.

Naked Lashes
Left: 1 Coat                        Right: 0 Coats
I think one single coat is the one where volume increases.

Left: 2 Coats                    Right: 0 Coats
Here after the second coat you can see the lengthening aspect. As you can see on the inside corner of my left eye it seems to look a bit funny. This is partly the way my lashes are and partly because the brush is so big it's a bit harder to get into small places like here.

2 Coats
Up close, 2 coats look a bit spidery but below in the face shot you can see it's not so noticeable. I just like to get up in yo faces for photos!! One negative I have with the mascara is that no matter how careful I am, chances are I will end up tipping the brush off my eyelid (as you can see above to the right inner corner) Now I am fairly "handsey" when applying mascara. I like to twist, squiggly, zig zag and basically just get rightly in there. I am fairly careful though but I find it almost always happens. I think it's because of the size of the wand which is a bit annoying. Nothing a q-tip can't fix though!

2 Coats
2 Coats

Over all I am happy with this mascara. It adds both volume and length which is fairly rare in a mascara. The mostly noticeable thing about this mascara in my opinion is the way it feels so light yet has brilliant lengthening and separating power. I find the wand a tad too big though as I need to be more controlled with application.

Avon's Super Shock Max Mascara is priced at €13 full price but if you're interested in trying it out, make sure to keep an eye out for offers. That's one thing Avon are great for!! HERE is the latest catalogue (as pictured below, where the mascara is on offer for €7.50!)

If you need a rep to order from, want to view or request a brochure or want to become an Avon Representative (seller) yourself have a look HERE

It comes in two shades - Black or Brown/Black. (I tried black) It is hypoallergenic and opthalmologist-tested so it's great for those with sensitive eyes. Have you tried this baby!!? (I know, I have to stop saying things like that!!)

This product was sent to me for free from Avon's PR Team for reviewing purposes. All opinions above are completely my own, 100% honest thoughts on the product.

24 September 2011

Morning all.

So I'm going to review the Tangle Teezer. If you'd like the know the scienc-ey bit for the unusual looking hairbrush click HERE to visit the website.

Source
Here are the claims

"Tangle Teezer is excellent for detangling both wet and dry hair.
Tangle Teezer gives a blissful, relaxing head massage even for the most sensitive scalps.
Excellent results are achieved on even the tightest curls and afro hair
Daily brushing refreshes hair for a sleek style and helps to smooth the cuticle for increased shine.
Tangle Teezer minimises hair breakage, so over a period of time you will notice your hair feels thicker and looks healthier"

I don't believe it gives you a nice head massage! If anything the bristles are a tad scrapey on the scalp.
Increased shine!? Nope! Maybe the claim is more of a general one ie. that brushing in general helps with shine, but the Tangle Teezer itself does not miraculously add shine! I would agree that it minimises hair breakage though - especially at the ends of your hair.

I bought the pink Tangle Teezer from Cloud10Beauty for €11.50.

It comes in several other colours and also in other sizes and forms.

I have some things I like and some things I don't.

It's all a bit exaggerated on the website and in the video if you ask me. At the end of the day, it is just a funny looking brush and it's not going to make an absolutely outstanding difference to your hair! But what I do really like about it, is when I use it on wet hair. Now I know you're not supposed to brush wet hair, but this is a beauty rule I break! With a normal brush I was noticing a lot of my hair falling out when brushing and my hair (which is reasonably long) would be quite knotty at the ends. The Tangle Teezer is ideal for this, the best I have found. It combs through the knots much easier than a regular brush and I have definitely noticed less hair shed.

As for using it on dry hair; I'm not fussed at all. I don't think it makes it much easier than any other brush. To be honest I rarely brush my hair when it's dry anyway, I usually just finger comb it in the mornings so this is why I am so pleased to have found a great hairbrush for wet hair!

Also, when using it on wet hair, if I apply product (heat protectant, creams etc) I love to brush it through to spread it out throughout my hair.

Overall I am really happy to have found a brush that is great for using on wet hair (even though it's bold!) But if I'm doing it, I might as well do it as gently as possible, so Tangle Teezer - thumbs up for that! Otherwise as a "normal" hair brush on dry hait......meh!
