TAG: 4 Product Challenge

Hallo all!

I was tagged by Sinead over at Viva Adonis to do the 4 Product Challenge. This involves whittling down (like my Take Me Out reference!!?) your make up products to just 4 to wear for the day. I didnt find this too hard. To be honest I don't have much of a problem going out with nothing on my face - That probably has something to do with me being fairly happy with my skin - I thankfully have never suffered with Acne etc. But in saying that I have included foundation in my list!! Here goes!! My first 2 would be my 2 ultimates that I would be happy to use alone!

1. Blusher

I think this would be top of my list. I love the way it can completly change the colour (obviously!) and dimensions of my face. I feel it makes me look alive. Without it I feel just...plain. It brightens up my face and adds life. I have been loving my Benefit - Coralista. Bourjois - 34 Rose d'Or and Elf - Merry Berry.

2. Lipgloss

I was trying to decide between gloss or lisptick but I went with lipgloss as it adds shine as well as colour. I feel by using these two items alone - blusher and lipgloss -  I would tie my hair back in a high twist or bun and it screams simplicity and elegance, I love the way a gloss can emphasive and enhance the size of my lips and as I said adds colour too. Some I have been using alot recently are below:
(Got this first one before it was released from one of the lovely girls in the Bourjois Office)

L-R - (New)Bourjois Effet 3D -01 Beige Elastic, Bourjois Effet - 34 Rose Mythic & 33 Brun Poetic, Sexy Mother Pucker (by Soap & Gloary - Pink Apricot, GOSH Lipgloss - 0068, Urban Decay Lip Junkie - Peroxide, Essence XXXL Nudes - 01 Pure Beauty, and Barry M - 5 Bubblegum Pink

3. Black Eyeliner

I think it's my top product for my eyes. It adds definition and even though black can sometimes "close" the size of your eyes, at the same time if i wear a black eyeliner I am immediatly drawn to look at them. Also I could smudge it out as an eyeshadow to cheat!! I've been using Barry M Intense Black Eyeliner Pen and Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero from my Naked Palette.

4. Foundation

If I had to chose a 4th I suppose it would be between mascara or foundation so I went with this. I feel that by having the black liner my eyes are emphasized enough, and foundation can make me look more polished. Even though I said I am happy with my skin I can sometime feel a bit naked without it. I use it mainly to cover freckles or little veins. And of course under my eyes. Currently I'm using Mac Studio Fix Fluid in NW20. It's grand, good coverage, ok to blend but i'm def not blown away by it. I find it to be a bit too industrial smelling and feeling!! I have tried Bourjois Healthy Mix and loved it. I'm currently eyeing Chanel Pro Lumiere after seeing Pixiwoos vid on Chanel Foundations.

Sigma Brushes

Hiya!!

Ok I'm quite excited about this post!! I got me some SIGMA Brushes!!! Now if you havent heard about these then log onto You Tube, find some beauty related videos and you won't be long finding out about them! Sigma themselves have a You Tube Channel if you want to look at that. Sigma brushes are Dupes for Mac brushes. They have the same or simlar codes for comparison purposes. Now I myself don't own any Mac brushes so therefore can't compare. I'm just so excited to own my first proper set of make up brushes. Their WEBSITE is full of different options such as purchasing brushes individually, in full sets, travel sets etc. A few weeks/months ago they came out with their latest kit "Make Me Up" - which is a 12 brush kit that comes in a solid travel holder tub. When this came out, it straight away caught my eye. I had always been visiting the site and procrastinating about what i'd like, so when a free international shipping offer came about....BAM I was sold!! I think this set it perfect for me as I wanted to make one proper order ie. make one big order rather than a few dribs and drabs and have to pay for shipping another time. So I ordered the 'Make Me Crazy' set - the purple one. I had a bit of a dilemma as to whether to go with the classic black which I love or this new colour, I went with this as if i ever buy any more individual brushes they will be black so that way i'll have both! I  also ordered the infamous F80 which basically is a Foundation Buffer Brush. Again, rave reviews about this brush on YT! I also got the F45  Powder Buffer Brush. Here are the pics!!:

My Package                                                                Overview of Everything

Individual brushes F80, F45 & free E25

Included Brushes                                   Holder

Holder & set of brushes

Eye Brushes

Close Up of brush heads

Face Brushes

Close up of brush heads

All my new stuff!!!!!

Now I was really impressed with all of this! Lovely looking brushes. They didnt look cheap - which is why I was so nervous about ordering the purple brushes, but it's not a bright girly purple colour. It's quite a deep purple, with metalic pink/purple ferrules. The text on the brushes seem to be stamped in with holographic text as opposed to the usual print that rubs off over time. Hopefully this will work better. The bristles are really soft (especially the F45 Buffer....softest brush I have EVER felt!!) Then I notice one....not so good thing. This:

My one problem :(

The E05 Eyeliner Brush was.....deformed!! It's seems the hairs aren't just out of place, but more like they have put put too far into the ferrule so they stick out compared to the others. I'll chance washing it and pinching it together for a few minutes to see if it makes much of a difference.....
The tub is a fantastic idea. It can be used as a travel case - perfect for keeping your brushes safe and preventing them from accidentely snapping! And when you're at home they can be used as 2 brush holders! Perfect! At the moment these containers are only available as part of the set but as far as I know, Sigma have considered making them available individually at a later date. Here it is up close for you to see the stitching, buttons etc:

Also in the package were some various leaflets.

List of brushes and their usesHow to take care of your brushes

So overall i'm am really really happy with my investment. I say investment cause I spent just over €100 on everything so I will be taking care of each and every one of them!
  • Make Me Crazy Set = $99/€72.50(aprx)
  • F80 Foundation Brush = $16/€11.50(aprx)
  • F45 Buffer Brush = $19/€14(aprx)

Do any of u ladies have Sigma brushes?? Thanks for reading :)

19/02/11     I contacted Sigma about my deformed brush and they are sending me out a replacement free of charge. In fact it has already been shipped. I'm quite impressed with the customer service!! :)

01/03/11     I just received my replacement E05 Eyeliner brush from Sigma. This one's perfect. Thanks Kate for the swift transaction! :)

TAG: Get To Know Me Better

Ok, so I was tagged by fellow-blogger Katie Elisabeth in her latest You Tube Video so I decided to do it here on my blog. If you are into YT vids,  then I def recommend checking her out as she does great reviews, make up looks and hauls and she has also recently started her Vlog Channel, which I am addicted to!! So the tag - as you may well guess! - is for you to get to know me a bit better. There are 21 questions, so here goes!

1.     Are you named after anyone?
Nope! I’m a complete original! As far as I know my oldest sister loved the name and my mother went with it. Thanks Susan!!

2. When was the last time you cried?
Unfortunately, the last time I cried was about 2 weeks ago and it was at the funeral of a friend. I actually remember feeling so unbelievably guilty for crying, as I can only imagine what the actual family were going through. Things like this always put things into major perspective for me and I really do try to appreciate everything and everyone I have in my own life. I haven’t cried since because of it and once something like that happens it will rarely leave my mind within days or even weeks, it stays with me. Not in a horrible way but it focuses me on life. I’m the type of person who thinks a lot, in fact I would say I’m an over thinker, but I defiantly take the time to process things in my head and take a look at my own life. I think many people talk about and think far too much about what they don’t have, rather than what they already have in their lives. It’s just a shame that something so freak and horrific like this has to happen, for the human race to sit up and take notice. So that’s the last time I cried :(

3. Do you have kids?

I certainly do!! Well, one, which is enough for now!! His name is Cathal and he is 5 since December. He started school this year....well, last year..... Oh you know what I mean, 2010!! That freaked me out completely because I realised that he was actually a developing HUMAN BEING!!! Well obviously I knew he was real but just the fact that I am responsible for how this little fellow grows up is a big responsibility! It’s cool now though. I get to see him learn how to read and write, make new friends and develop his personality for the rest of his life! Some of the stuff he comes out with is gas – a lot of it from his 2 Grandads’! He’s like an old man himself at heart which is adorable. He’s quite a boy’s boy, but he definitely knows when he needs his Mom! He’s a little legend!! Here are some pics:

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
I know everyone says yes to this question but if I’m being 100% honest I’m not sure if I would!!! HA!! At least I can laugh about it!! Now I’m not saying I’m a horrible person and there wouldn't be a hope in hell I’d even say hello to myself on the street!!! But, it’s just that sometimes I’m aware that I may come off as a bit stand-off-ish. It’s not as though I’m protecting myself from being hurt – it’s more so I don’t want to let the wrong type of person be a part of my life, so I’m just wary of people I guess. I suppose it’s a trust thing. I think it needs to be earned. I’m not just going to be friends with you just because you’re being nice to me. I’ll be polite but it doesn’t necessarily mean that I need you to be my friend forever!! I’m being really critical here and.....ironically... over-thinking this, but I do know I can be a bit guarded. But if you are my friend it’s a completely different story. If you’ve a feeling I like you, then you’re probably right because if I didn’t like you, you’d know it!! ;)

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Ah.......................................NO! Next question!

6. Will you ever bungee-jump?
YES! If I am ever in a location that it would be possible then defiantly! I’ve been skydiving in Prague and it was one of the most surreal and amazing things I have ever done in my life, after giving birth and falling in love!!....awh!

7. What's your favourite cereal?
Am, I like Special K, Start, Crunchy Nut.... that kinda thing!

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Hair, teeth, eyes, in that order, for both male and female!! And babies... apart from the teeth..and actually eyes first!!

9. What is your eye color?
Mostly Blue!! Kinda amber around my pupils with a brown dot in my right eye! Let me show you!

10. Scary movie or happy endings?
I go through phases. I used to love scary ones but I freak myself out too much afterwards by thinking I’m seeing people in glass reflections, mirrors, shadows etc! Happy endings...meh! Ya they’re nice. I actually think I prefer sad endings... it makes you remember a film.

11. Favorite smells?
Berry smells,. I love milk and honey hand soaps, coconut-ey sunscreen, vanilla, baby smells (I know what you’re thinking...stop it!) and Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy and David Beckham-Intimately...on James obv! And his Hugo Boss one whatever it is!!

12. Summer or winter?
Winter

13. Computer or television?
Computer. It’s more a less my life. I work on it, play on it, save memories and blog on it. And watch television programmes on it!

14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home?
That would be New York. I've been to New York, Prague, Brittany-France, Tenerife, Paris and London

15. Do you have any special talents?

I’m pretty good at twisting things.... as in word or opinions. Like if someone has an opinion and mine is the opposite I’m pretty good and being able to make the other person understand/change to my opinion. Not that I do it on purpose, but I’m usually quite good with words.

16. Where were you born?

Cork (bai!!!)

17. What are your hobbies?

Blogging, reading, watching films, trying different foods (when I can, which is rare because of my dam boyfriend being a ridiculous eater!) and socialising with friends and family. I love being on my own though – listening to music or going for a walk or whatever.

18. Do you have any pets?

No L *Sob. I desperately want a black pug though!!

19. Favourite movie?

Oh god this is hard. Ok, there is no way I can pick one, top of my list are, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Enough, Taken, Gran Torino, Don’t Say A Word.

20. Do you have any siblings?

Yes, I have 4 sisters, 2 older and 2 younger.

21. What do you wanna be when you grow up?

Hmmm... I’m still not completely sure. I like what I’m doing in college at the moment which is Social Studies. Maybe something like a social worker? I’d like that because I get to deal with people and it involves office-ey things like paperwork and computer work. I always imagined myself with a job that I had my own desk! Just not too sure where the desk is situated yet!

BAM!! That's it! Sorry if it was too long. I love doing things like these! Hell I even love filling out questionnaires for randomers!! Thank you so much for reading this. I tag the following:
